Tu-tu-tu Tuesday (you have to sing it to get the right feel)

It's Tuesday! (not really the most exciting day of the week) I'm starting to get excited about our trip up to Glacier and Canada that starts this weekend. I'm also thinking of doing some shopping at work for warm clothes.... :)

Plus, I thought I'd try out this writing challenge that I found over at Wicked.Sexy.Books. Here are the rules and the inspiration.

Rules. There even has to be rules in the bedroom.

1.) Post the link for your story by Friday

2.) Limit yourself. No more then 450 words.

3.) You have to have your story include the below medium of choice.

4.) This is a Adult Blog so no need to write censored work.

5.) It must be an original piece of work.

6.) Have some wicked fun with your words!!

Week #1

So here are the ramblings I put together. In my opinion it's kinda bleh so feel free to skip over.
She ran for her life, pain stabbing her side with each gasping breath.   Sensations from the evening flashed through her mind. The damp strings of her hair sticking to her neck in the damp air, the subsonic throb of music beating with her heart, the musky scent of close pressed bodies. Suddenly she realized her feet were no longer touching the ground, her arms reaching out to catch herself.  For a breath, she didn’t feel the impact, but slowly the sensations came into focus. Gravel bit in her hands and knees, a burning sensation was creeping into her ankle.
“Take a breath and keep going,” she thought to herself.
She tried to get up, but her body wouldn’t move. Distractingly, she began to hear something over the thrum of her heart beating in her ears.
Click.
Click.
That's the most I had time to get down last night...

And finally.... A new Guild episode is here. I'm an addict. :p No new Legend of Neil until next week though. (I still can't get over the gloffice...)

Dear Annah

Dear Annah,
Please share some of your famosity with me today. It's cold and raining, I'm sad, and I'm poor. :(
Lately my cats have been telling me I need to make more friends, and buy them more kitty food. And something about wild Atlantic salmon... But there's usually a grain of truth in cat talk if you can wade through all of the "fish" "go outside" "I want some" and "clean my litter box."
I'm pretty sure he said Annah will give you follower who like to click ads and buy stuff on Amazon to buy me more treats. Or something about a dead mouse. I'm going with the Annah plan.
See Annah? As illustrated here, the cat has a plan for us. Won't you help us out??

The Expendables

The ExpendablesThe Expendables
Synopsis
A bunch of aging action stars run around fighting each other and blowing things up. Really, I didn't get much more plot out of this.

Review
The movie starts off with lots of closeups and wiggly camera shots reminiscent of a time before steady cams. Compound this with every action movie cliche you can think of, and I'm not really sure if this movie is supposed to be a satire of action movies as a whole, or it Sylvester Stallone is simply trying to relive his glory days.  But either way, it really fell flat on it's face. I really, really wanted to care about the characters, but it I couldn't. Unless you have a desire to see what happens when Jet Li fights Dolph Lundgren, I'd suggest just renting your favorite aging action movies (my choices would be The Transporter and The Die Hard Collection) or watching The Losers if you want a pretty good action movie with spunk.

My Recommendation
Unless you really miss the good old days of Rocky, I would skip this one and just watch an old favorite. I'm giving it a 2/5 - If it happens to be around, it's OK.

If only I didn't have to work in the morning...

'nuff said.

It's a sale day and some blog hops....

It's been a little bit since I've done one of these, so I thought I'd give it a try again. We have a huge sale at work today so wish me luck!

Also, if you know of a blog hop that isn't family friendly, please let me know. :)

Would You Rather Wednesday

Yes, these are honestly things that I think about. I fully hate both of the following and can't actually make up my mind...
Would you rather be really sunburnt or chased by bees?? (and no hot guys in bee suits)
The bees are totally the best part of this drawing. They're out for blood!
So what do you think??

I thought I'd change this up a bit and try out some Linky. So, if you happen to want to write a post about my Would You Rather Weds question, feel free to link up. (Let me know if there are any issues, this is my first time. Also, let me know if you like it and we'll continue.) There aren't any rules beyond that. If you'd like to read other people's posts and leave some awesome comments, that would be really cool. :) Have fun!

Oh Look, it's Tuesday Again!

Well, I'm back to work today after having a few days off, enjoying a head cold and driving around the state. I thought that we could celebrate my day of doing price changes with my favorite neurotic redhead. :)
(plus I'm waiting for the BF to drop me off at work today so I can bring my bike that has been in storage there home... He takes quite a while in the "sauna" each morning.)

Oh, and I thought you'd like to know that it is 39 degrees C out here today. Apparently our 1.5 months of summer are now over... It's a good thing I love snow!

I almost forgot! After many requests, there is now a "subscribe by email" option. If you look to your right, there is a box titled "Easy Mode." Simply enter your email address, and presto!

Hush Money - Susan Bischoff

Hush Money (Talent Chronicles)Hush Money (Talent Chronicles)

Synopsis
There are things that are never spoken about in Joss's town, and when Krista disappears, she is just one more missing face that will never return. Joss knows how easy it is to disappear, her childhood friend was taken when they were five after a mysterious house fire. Since then, she has taken ever precaution to avoid attention of let anyone close enough to discover her secrets. If it comes to light that she has a Talent, she is as good as dead.

Review
I found this story to be entertaining, though definitely written for the teenage crowd. It has a great pace, and held my attention long after I was supposed to be asleep. While the characters were occasionally put into adult situations, they were only lightly touched upon and were not explored in any depth or provided any real consequences to the characters. The chapters alternated between the views of Joss and Dylan, providing some insight into the characters, but also making them come off a bit stereotypical and flat. However, I thought that they did show potential for growth as the series continues. The developing romantic relationship between Joss and Dylan was great and really made me want to keep reading.

My Recommendation

This was a fun read, and is great for teenage fans of urban fantasy. I give it a 4/5 - Wait for a sale/coupon.

The Wave - Susan Casey

The Wave: In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks and Giants of the OceanThe Wave: In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks and Giants of the Ocean

Synopsis
This non-fiction novel teaches you everything that you've ever wanted to know about large waves and more. The chapters alternate between the quest for monster waves by legendary surfers and chapters on the science behind waves as well as the historic destructive power of them.

Review
I found this book to be fascinating. While the surfing chapters were interesting, I really enjoyed the chapters that recounted destructive waves. The only portion of the book that I was not a fan of was the chapter involving the physics of waves. I understand why the chapter was included, but most of the information went completely over my head. However, by the end of the book, I did feel like I had a much better understanding of the concept of energy in waves. Plus, I was jealous that the author had the opportunity to surf behind Hamilton on a jet ski on the waves of Jaws...

My Recommendation
I have a substantial list of friends who now want to read this book. I give it a 4/5 - Wait for a sale/coupon.

Who doesn't love a random present??

So, the other night, I was making some delicious spaghetti and garlic bread when my BF came home. To my surprise, he said he had a present for me! (I love presents. It could be a rock and I'd be happy) He started giving some bizarre background, like I got this from a someone at work... I don't know the rest, I was totally focused on PHAT LEWTZ!!!!
He pulled this strange baggie out of his pocket and then said the words:
"This not that ring." (I guess at this point I should let you know that BF and I have been dating for 7.5+ years, so engagement is kind of a hot topic at this point...)
Seriously, why is glitter not a color? This doesn't do my excitement justice.
I didn't care that it wasn't that ring, my guy just gave me a sparkley thing with blue! And it totally matches the necklace he gave me the first year we were dating! It was so pretty it totally could have been an engagement ring, so I told him so.
So, the random pretty ring is now being sent out to be sized two sizes smaller so that it fits on my hand. What an awesome surprise!

Vampires Suck

Vampires Suck

Synopsis
A parody of the Twilight movies with current pop culture references. Becca is new in town, living with her father, the sheriff. She falls in love with the local hottie, Edward Sullen. Her childhood friend Jacob also loves her, and the two fight over her.

Review
I expected this movie to be horrible like Disaster Movie, but it was surprisingly entertaining. Hate the Twilight craze but basically know what's going on? You might like this movie. There is the standard prop/gross out humor, but as this movie seems to be targeted more at girls than most of the spoof movies seem to be, it's not that bad. My boyfriend actually enjoyed it a bit more than I did, and he doesn't even know what happened in New Moon (he did suffer through a rental of Twilight though). His words were "if Twilight was like this, I may have actually watched it."

My Recommendation
It's very entertaining, but I don't know if I would be willing to pay full ticket price for it. 3/5 - Rent it/Borrow it

Would You Rather Wednesday

As this is something that I'm currently trying to figure out, I thought maybe you guys could help me.

We're heading up to a scuba diving festival at Flathead lake, and I'm trying to figure out if we want to shell out the money for a hotel room of questionable quality or pay ~1/3 the price to camp.... One certainly requires taking a lot more stuff with us.

So, would you rather go tent camping or stay in a hotel?
It may be a hotel for the color blind.

Hey, It's Tuesday!

There are actually a few cool things about this Tuesday.
First off, it appears my random rant the other day was my 100th post, so I figured I'd celebrate with this, my 101st post. YAY! :p
I am a little bit bummed, because I did think today was Weds for a bit, so I thought one of my paychecks hit the bank, but I guess I get to save that bit of excitement for tomorrow.
Essie over at the Loch Ess Monster says that today is Hug a Redhead Day. While I love any holiday that celebrates gingers, please make sure to ask before you hug. Some of us will hurt you if you don't move slowly and in a zigzag fashion towards us..... You've been warned.
And finally, it's a new Guild episode day! Yay!

A little bit of nothing and a balloon

I don't know about you guys, but I tend to get a bit worked up about going out of town... I feel like I have to have the house perfect before we go and everything planned out for while we're gone. So, I'm a bit of a mess at the moment.
We're heading up to the Montana State Dive Fest at Flathead Lake on Weds, and I have no idea if we are camping or if we are staying in a hotel. I don't know if I'll be able to dive by then (my foot is still not all better. :( ) Aaaarg! Plus, we may or may not be going to Yellowstone on Sunday. I hate when I don't know until the last minute. I'm starting to think that I'm not really spontaneous. hmm.
And... it's the BF's birthday while we're there! So many things together. Eeek!

Bah this post has no point. So here, I'll add something that makes it better.

Follow Me Friday...

So, I'm currently working on an awesome post that already has 3 pictures.... But, since I need my BF to tell me what he actually is OK with me writing, it's a bit delayed. (Yes, I let him have a say in how much of our private conversations get posted. He tends to be more selective than I am as I think many of his comments make the stories better, but anyway...)
Until we come to a compromise about that post this will have to do.

I've decided to be social again. Watch me hop!

Would You Rather Wednesday

Hey Guys!
With no preamble, here we go.
Would you rather go without food or without sex?

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Today is a Double Whammy Tuesday

Plus there is the benefit of seeing if I'm going to murder my computer before I actually get this post done! (Google Chrome is freaking out again! grrrrr)

First off, The Guild. What will happen next to poor Codex now that she has found out she had a one night stand??

There will also be a new Legend of Neil today. I'll throw it up here when I get home. :)

The Sleeping Beauty - Mercedes Lackey

The Sleeping BeautyThe Sleeping Beauty

Synopsis
Rosa is the princess of a very wealthy kingdom ruled by The Tradition, a magical force that forces innocent people into the roles of classic tales. When her mother dies shortly after her 16th birthday and her father immediately remarries, she knows an evil stepmother is only the beginning of her battle against The Tradition to protect her kingdom and her happiness.

Review
I am a huge fan of reworked fairy tales, plus I'm a fan of Mercedes Lackey so this book was really a win win for me. While the book is titled "Sleeping Beauty," the plot actually attempts to tie in a whole range of stories. While I wish that the book would have stuck more to one story, I really enjoyed the read. Actually, I stayed up pretty much all night reading the book as I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed Rosa's growth as well as her godmother's romantic journey. Plus, there were several parts that were simply funny. The princes were entertaining, and at one point I wasn't quite sure who was going to win Rosa, which is quite unusual.

My Recommendation
A nice, enjoyable read safe for all ages. I give it a 5/5 - Worth Full Price as I know that I will enjoy reading it again. I know that it isn't a revolutionary work of literature, but I really enjoyed it. :)

The Attack of Mothra

I think that we have pretty well established that I don't like bugs.
Well, the BF and I were laying in bed trying to go to sleep the other day when I saw some movement out of the corner of my eye. I guess I should also state that I'm not a fan of ghosts or any kind of undead being in my bedroom either. So, I laid there trying to figure out what I saw move. Then I saw it. This moth had to be somewhere around 10 inches long and out for blood. (I'm not really afraid of moths, it's just that I don't like anything dive bombing me at any time.) I asked the BF to get it, but he didn't feel like it. I rolled over on my stomach and was reading with my reading light when I flinched because there was the moth, coming right for me. The BF found this hilarious, of course. Fast forward 10 minutes, I'm flinching all the time, and the BF is laughing his head off. Then BAM, the moth comes right at him and hits him in the arm. My response was "see, I told you that he was out to get us." The moth hit the BF one more time and the conversation went like this:
ME: He's going to get us.
BF: It's a moth, what is it going to do.
ME: I don't know, I just don't like it. Kill it or something.
BF: I'm not going to kill it.
ME: Well catch it and release it into the wild.
*I duck again as the moth swoops*
The BF went to get a glass to catch the moth, the moth then proceeds to hide behind the dresser.
BF: Well, I'm not going to move the dresser to catch a moth.
ME: Well, let's just pretend you aren't hunting it, then it will come out and try to get us again.
We sit there for a few minutes, and sure enough, Mothra comes swooping out.
ME: Look, Mothra's back, you can get it now!
BF: Did you just name the moth?
ME: Yes I did, get it.
BF: I can just see the blog title now "Mothra Attacks."
ME: Probably, just get the damn moth.
BF: What do you want me to do? It's a 12 foot ceiling.
ME: Omg it landed on that shoe. Get it, get it!
I watch him get the moth in his cup and head towards the bathroom.
ME: What are you doing? I thought you were going to release Mothra.
BF: I am.
ME: Oh, I thought you were going to flush him. I forgot that there isn't a screen in that window.
I may have fallen asleep before he came back to bed....
So here you are, actual candid footage of "Mothra Attacks."
Yeah, it's a moth, not a flying poo. Turns out it was harder to draw than I thought.

Please note the cat sleeping on the bed and not disposing of the bug. They are supposed to take care of bugs...

This guy totally does better reviews than me...

Love Twilight? Hate Twilight?? You should totally watch this!

I found this on one of the many blogs I hopped to today. I thought it was pure genious and am currently on chapter 3. Obviously I'm really busy today.

*Chapter Two and onward can be found here.

OMG, I'm actually going to leave my house tonight!

I saw this today and thought or you.
Source
I'm not actually sure why that made me think of you... but we take what we can get... Plus, does it look like that monkey is wearing a some kind of underwear?

It's a special time of the year here in Bozeman. It's the Sweet Pea Festival. Now, a bunch of tourists come in for this every year, I'm not really sure why because the arts/crafts are way better in any major city, and their festivals usually have free entry. We have to pay $10 a person here... So, needless to say, I usually skip it. However, this year the Big Bad Voodoo Daddies are playing. Since I love live swing music, I actually gave in and bought wrist bands. (They used to do buttons and you would just share them between your friends...)
So that's what I'm doing tonight. What are you up to?
