This is all very exciting, except for the fact that I keep doing weird things to my now less supported finger, and that hurts. :(
But hey, it's progress!
Cool things I can do now are: bend the finger, take the splint off to shower, use my ring finger...
Everything else still pretty much hurts to do, but meh, it's gotta get better soon!
Tomorrow I'm gonna go to an event called WoofStock, at the humane society. We'll see if there are any irresistible puppies there... ooOOoo
(I feel like none of my sentences are going anywhere... So I'm going to go stare at the wall some more)
Happy Friday!
Quick Update:
I was riding my bike with Maki on a leash on Tuesday. A kid hit a wiffle ball across the street and Maki decided to take after it. Needless to say, I ate it, hard.
I landed on the pinky finger of my right hand and my face. My wonderful neighbors found me crying on the street and helped me call Kev to come take me to the hospital. They helped me get off the street, and a got a look at my finger. It was going 90degrees the wrong direction. I lost it at that point. My awesome neighbor had her kids take Maki and got me a towel to wrap my hand in, so I wouldn't have to look at it.
Kev took me to the hospital, where I learned that i had not actually broken my finger off, as I had thought. I had an open dislocation, which it where you dislocate your joint so hard that it comes through your skin. Gross right?
So, I ended up having hand surgery on Tuesday night. They actually called in the OR staff and a hand specialist just for me... I'm terrified to see the bill...
I'm typing left handed right now, and am ingesting a steady stream of Vicodin and antibiotics...
Hopefully the new splint that I get tomorrow will allow me to become a productive member of society once again... I feel so guilty having to miss work....
But I did get to see a 7 week old Corgi puppy tonight. :) She was super cute.
I know this is random, but really, it's what you get at this point...
We had some pretty major events in our house over the last week. :)
It's hard to believe, but Sir Maki Bonecrusher Destructor Maximus is now 1 year old!! Like all good crazy pet parents, we threw him a birthday party.
Did you know that the DQ will give you a free "doggy cone" on their birthday?
The birthday boy, and *gasp* me!
Maki's friend Gizmo, the 8 month old Corgi
Samwise, Maki's best friend, and the other party animals
What kind of party would it be without a dog birthday cake??
Maki's dad, Kev also had a birthday! He turned the big 2-9! We will now be the same age for one whole month.... (I'm just going to let you know, he's currently wandering around our living room alternately playing a giant walking stick flute and swinging it around like a weapon, with an occasional "you shall not pass" reinactment)
The other birthday boy in his birthday Domo shirt.
The icing on the week was really the sweet sinus infection that I developed last week. It is persistantly keeping me company, which sadly made this week a little less fun than it should have been. It did keep us from going up to the Montana State Dive Fest this weekend like we had originally planned. :(
Today though, I decided I wasn't going to let a silly little thing like a sinus infection stop me from hiking a 9600 ft peak. This was possibly not the best decision, the way up really really sucked, but at least my sinuses cleared on the way down.
(FYI, coolest app ever!)
And here's a picture from the top.
I'm off to drink a margarita and watch the old school Conan...
Each day I think to myself, I really want to write a post today. But then the day goes on, and things come up. I find myself making a thousand tiny little excuses to not write.
This is one of my favorite arguments I've been having with myself lately:
Hey, I should sit down and write something! Hmmm, but then I have to draw a picture, and I don't have a mouse, just that stupid laptop pad thingy. Well, I can still write without a mouse. Wait, I really really hate typing with that pad thingy on, I hate it when it randomly decides that I wanted to add gibberish in the middle of a sentence two paragraphs ago. I guess I could turn off the stupid pad thingy. But I do need to *insert chore here*.....
That seems to be the point where I wander off.
Today, I decided to actually write something. Even if it was total crap. I need to get back into the groove.
So, I'm sitting here, passively watching Teen Mom. It's hard to write and watch it because I can't fast forward it when I get bored.
The puppy just sat down next to me. He's been a spaz face lately (well, honestly, always). I'm pretty stoked that he managed to push a pilates ball today. I suppose that statement makes a lot more sense when I explain that we started doing treibballing classes together. It's this random German dog sport that involves dogs herding bouncy balls. See below for an example, but mute it, the barking is annoying.
Treibball may (I hate this touch pad) turn out to be a fun sport for us. Though I will say, our first two classes involved me trying to get Maki to stop smelling the grass and chasing butterflies and actually pay attention to me in the hot sun. We'll see how next week goes, at least he isn't running away from the ball anymore. Though I may kill Kev if he continues to bounce the ball in front of the dog. I'd rather have the dog run away from the ball than think that popping it is fun....
Let's see.... here's some interesting things that have happened lately:
I bought a wedding dress. It's the same wedding dress I picked out last November. I guess that I have good taste. :p
Owning a house is expensive. You seem to want to buy all kinds of things to put it in.
Kev's brother moved into our basement. He told us he will be paying his rent in manual labor. Very Interesting.
I quit working at REI.
I got a positive review for my first 6 months at the full time job.
I went for a 14 mile hike last weekend that really deserves its own post, with pictures. It was an epic adventure.
*Side note, one of the teen moms is trying to get a puppy to pee by holding the puppy over a toilet and telling it to go potty. She then locked it in its crate as punishment. That's completely backwards from any kind of common sense. Then again, this is Teen Mom.
I think that's enough random blather for now. I'm going to go clean the kitchen, again... weeee! Plus, if I don't stop now, I'll have a 10 page rant about random MTV comments. Ewww!
